ANOVA, n. Statistics. Brit. |ˈanəvɑː|, |əˈnəʊvə|, U.S. |ˈænəˌvɑ|, |əˈnoʊvə| Forms: 19– ANOVA, 19– anova [Acronym ‹ the initial letters of analysis of variance.] A procedure for analysing the statistical significance of differences between the mean scores of two or more groups on one or more independent variables, involving resolution of the total variance of the set of observations into components associated with different sources of variation. Also: an instance of this; any of several techniques for carrying out such an analysis.
