▪ I. lined, ppl. a.1|laɪnd| [f. line v.1 + -ed1.] In various senses of line v.1 lined blades (see quot. 1833). lined gold, gold having a backing of another metal, used for making jewellery and ornaments. Also in Comb., as red-lined, silk-lined, tin-lined, etc., q.v. under their first elements.
