Lenz's law Electr.|ˈlɛntsɪz, ˈlɛnzɪz| [Named after H. F. E. Lenz (1804–65), German physicist, who first enunciated it (in Ann. d. Physik u. Chem. (1834) XXXI. 483).] The law that the direction of an induced current is always such as to oppose the change in the circuit or the magnetic field that produces it.
