lente, n. Med. and Biochem.|ˈlɛntɪ| Also with capital initial. [a. Da. Lente (registered in Denmark in 1958), f. L. lentē slowly.] A substance, esp. insulin, that is metabolized or absorbed only gradually when introduced into the body. Freq. attrib. Cf. *Ultralente n. Proprietary in the U.S. (Lente) when applied to insulin.
