ledeburite Metallurgy.|ˈleɪdəbjʊraɪt| [ad. G. ledeburit (F. Wüst 1909, in Metallurgie VI. 523), f. the name of Adolf Ledebur (1837–1906), German metallurgist + -ite1.] The eutectic of the iron/iron carbide system which is composed of austenite and cementite, contains about 4·3 per cent carbon, and occurs in cast iron.
