laudanine Chem.|ˈlɔːdənaɪn| Also -in. [ad. G. laudanin (O. Hesse 1870, in Ann. d. Chem. und Pharm. CLIII. 49), f. laudan-um: see -ine6.] A colourless to pale red crystalline alkaloid contained in opium.
1871Jrnl. Chem. Soc. XXIV. 1064 White crystals are thereby obtained, from which the laudanine is separated by the action of hydriodic acid, with which it forms a difficultly soluble compound.
