lamellibranchiate, a. (n.) Zool.|ləmɛlɪˈbræŋkɪət| [ad. mod.L. lāmellibranchiātus (implied in -āta n. pl.): see prec. + -ate3.] Belonging to the group Lamellibranchiata of molluscs (so called as having lamellate gills) of which the ordinary bivalves (oysters, mussels, etc.) are typical.
