Laennec, n. Path.|laɛˈnɛk| Also Laënnec. [The name of R. T. H. Laënnec (1781–1826), French physician, who described the condition in 1819 (De l'Auscultation Médiate I. 368).] Laennec's cirrhosis, a type of cirrhosis of the liver characterized by a nodular appearance of the liver surface and associated with alcoholism.
