ˈwitereden Hist. Also corruptly winter-, wynter-, wit(t)erden(e, witeredden. [OE. wíterǽden (used in Bæda's Hist. iii. viii. in the gen. sense of punishment), f. wíte wite n.2 + rǽden -red.] A fine (erron. explained by antiquaries as a royal imposition or aid).
