whitlockite Min.|ˈhwɪtləkaɪt| [f. the name of Herbert P. Whitlock (1868–1948), U.S. mineralogist + -ite1.] A calcium hydrogen phosphate containing ferrous iron and magnesium, Ca9(Mg,Fe)H(PO4)7, found as transparent or translucent rhombohedral crystals of various colours and often occurring in dental calculi.

The mineral is named after Herbert P.
