Kerguelen|kəˈgeɪlən, ˈkɜːgələn| The name of a group of islands in the southern Indian Ocean, used attrib. in Kerguelen cabbage, a cabbage-like plant, Pringlea antiscorbutica, of the family Cruciferæ, which is confined to several islands in this region.

Antarctic Voy.: Flora Antarctica II. 240 The illustrious Cook first discovered and drew attention to the ‘Kerguelen's Land cabbage’ during his first voyage, when accompanied by Mr. Anderson as surgeon and naturalist.
