United States Department of Agriculture] recently introduced a Guatemalan ant, the ‘kelep’ (Ectatomma tuberculatum) into Texas for the purpose of destroying the very injurious cotton-boll weevil. 1951C. F. W. Muesebeck et al. Hymenoptera of Amer. North of Mexico 783 Ectatomma..tuberculatum... This species, known as the kelep, was introduced into Texas in the early part of this century to combat the cotton boll weevil. It has apparently become extinct. |
