glass fibre
a. An individual filament of glass, of any length.
1824Edin. Philos. Jrnl. X. 39, I brought to within half an inch of each other, two conductors, and I united them by a very fine glass thread. One..was connected with an electrical machine, and the other communicated with the ground.
