ju-jitsu|ˌdʒuːˈdʒɪtsuː| Also formerly jiu-jitsu, -jutsu, ju-jitzu, -jutsu; and as one unhyphenated word. [ad. Jap. jūjutsu, f. jū (Chinese jou: see judo) + jutsu (Chinese shu, shut art, science).] A Japanese system of wrestling and physical training, characterized by the use of certain techniques and holds to overcome an adversary.
