Wemyss, n.|wiːmz| The name of the parish of Wemyss in Fife, E. Scotland, used attrib. to designate a type of decorated pottery produced at the Fife Pottery in Kirkcaldy c 1883–1930, and characterized by colourful underglaze illustrations of flowers, fruit, birds, etc. Esp. as Wemyss ware.
