‖ jeziah E. Ind.|ˈdʒɛzjə| Also 7 jid-, judge(e)a, 8 jezia, jezzeea. [Pers. (Arab.) jizyah poll-tax.] The poll-tax imposed by Islamic law on non-Muslim subjects; spec. that exacted by the Mogul emperors in India.
