‖ prolapsus Path.|prəʊˈlæpsəs| [late L. prōlaps-us n., f. ppl. stem of L. prōlābi, prōlaps-, to slip forward or down: see pro-1 and lapse n.] A slipping forward or down of a part or organ, esp. of a part of the viscera, from its normal position into a cavity or through an opening; spec. that of the uterus or of the rectum. prolapsus of the iris, the protrusion of the iris through an ulcer or wound of the cornea.
