‖ entresol (ˈɛntəsɒl, Fr. ɑ̃tr(ə)sɔl) Also 8 entresole, entersole, 9 intersole. [Fr.; f. entre between + sol the ground.] A low story placed between the ‘ground floor’ and the ‘first floor’ of a building; sometimes so contrived as to appear externally part of the former; a mezzanine story. Also attrib.
