† wandreme Obs. rare—1. [Of uncertain etymology. Perh. f. wan- + dream n.1, though this supposition offers some difficulties. The word may be an alteration, for the sake of rhyme, of wandreth, with which it seems to be synonymous. Another possibility is that it represents OE. wódendréam, used to render furor animi, but surviving with difference of meaning in Sc. widdendream (varr. windream, widdrim, etc.) confusion, bewilderment; for the phonology cf. Wansdyke repr. OE. Wódnesdíc.] Distress, grief: ? = wandreth.
