intrapetiolar, a. Bot.|ɪntrəˈpɛtɪələ(r)| [f. intra- 1 + petiole: cf. petiolar.] Situated within, or on the inner side of, the petiole or leaf-stalk; applied a. to an axillary bud formed immediately under the base of the petiole and surrounded by it so as not to appear until the leaf has fallen; b. to a stipule, or pair of confluent stipules, between the petiole and the axis. Also intraˈpetiolary a. (Cooke Man. Bot. Terms 1862).
