1597–8Bp. Hall Sat. i. viii. 12 Singing his love..In mightiest ink-hornismes he can thither wrest. 1611Cotgr., Supergurgiter, to overflow (an Inkhornisme in Rabelais). So † ˈinkhornist, one who uses ink-horn terms; a pedant. Obs.
