[repr. OE. *fyxen (= MHG. vühsinne, G. füchsin), fem. of fox fox. Cf. OE. fyxen adj. ‘of a fox’ (= OHG. fuhsîn, MHG. vühsîn). The word is one of the few in which the southern v for f has definitely established itself.]
