Ingrian, n. and a.|ˈɪŋgrɪən|
[f. Ingria, the name of a district in early Russia situated on the south shore of the eastern part of the Gulf of Finland, from the Ladoga Lake in the east to Estonia in the west. The area is also known as Ingermanland or the Izhora land; its people were originally Karelians who settled on the Izhora river in the 11th–12th cent., and are now largely assimilated into the Russian population of St. Petersburg Oblast.]
