Vierendeel Engin.|ˈviːrəndɛəl| The name of A. Vierendeel, Belgian engineer and architect, used attrib. with reference to a type of girder introduced by him in 1896 in which there are no diagonal members, overall rigidity of the structure being maintained by rigidity at the joints of the vertical and horizontal members.
