hyperdrive Science Fiction.|ˈhaɪpədraɪv| Also hyper-drive. [f. hyper- + drive n.; perh. suggested by hyperspace, overdrive.] A fictitious device by which a spaceship is enabled to travel from one point to another in a shorter time than light would take (usually by passing out of ordinary space into ‘hyperspace’ for the journey); also, the state of so travelling.
