A divalent hydro-carbon radical, C3H4, isomeric with acetylene; consisting of allyl minus one atom of hydrogen. Also called propine.
1863Watts Dict. Chem. I. 112 Pure allylene, a colourless gas, having an unpleasant odour, burning with a smoky flame. 1869Roscoe Elem. Chem. 391 Allylene is formed by the action of potash upon propylene dichloride.
