An amino-acid (—S·CH2·CH2·CH(NH2)·COOH)2, which is the oxidized form of homocysteine.

Hence ˌhomocystiˈnuria [-uria], a rare condition, caused by a hereditary enzyme deficiency, in which homocystine is present in the urine.
