heumite Petrol.|ˈhjuːmaɪt| [a. G. heumite, heumit (W. C. Brögger 1898, in Skr. udg. af Videnskabsselsk. i Christiania (Math.-naturv. Klasse) 1897 vi. 46), f. the name of Heum in southern Norway: see -ite1.] A brownish-black hypabyssal dike-rock containing alkali feldspars, biotite, and barkevikite, with nepheline, sodalite, and other rocks.

LXXX. ii. 169 Heumite is the name given to a dyke-rock from Heum, consisting of hornblende and felspar, with some biotite, and smaller amounts of nephelite, sodalite, diopside, &c. 1938A.
