1870C. U. Shepard in Amer. Jrnl. Sci. C. 96 Barrandite has gr. = 2·576. Redondite gives gr. = 2·019. 1964Amer. Mineralogist XLIX. 445 X-ray powder data are given on redondite from Ponikla and Listenec, Czechoslovakia, from Redonda Island, and for tangaite from Tanganyika... Redondite (and tangaite) give patterns that are identical and distinct from those of variscite and clinovariscite... The authors feel that the name redondite should be used for all material of this type with Al > Fe and the name tangaite is superfluous. 1975Mineral Abstr. XXVI. 225/2 Variscite, crandallite, and redondite, relatively rare phosphate minerals, are found in phosphatic rocks associated with carbonatites and syenites in the Grande islet (Brava island) Cape Verde. |
