hamartoma Path.|hæmɑːˈtəʊmə| [mod.L., ad. G. hamartom (E. Albrecht 1904, in Verh. d. deutsch. path. Ges. VII. 153), f. Gr. ἁµαρτ-άνω to go wrong: see -oma.] A tumour-like mass resulting from the faulty growth or development of normal cells or tissue.
