griseofulvin Chem.|ˌgrɪzɪəʊˈfʌlvɪn| [f. mod.L. griseofulv-um (f. griseo- + L. fulvus reddish yellow), epithet of a species of Penicillium: see -in1.] An anti-fungal antibiotic, C17H17O6Cl, produced by several species of mould of the genus Penicillium and used esp. in the treatment of ringworm.
