† ˈbattard Sc. Obs. Also 6 battart, -irt, batter. [a. OF. bastard, pronounced bâtard (in same sense), perhaps confused in Scotl. with batter vb.] = bastard, or culverin bastard, a small cannon. Similarly battard-falcon, a kind of cannon.
