‖ giunta Hist.|ˈdʒʊnta| See also junta. [It. giunta, f. giugnere to join.] In the Venetian republic, a number of patricians chosen to act as assessors to the Council of Ten in special emergencies; later, the name given to the 60 co-opted members of the council of pregadi, by which the affairs of the state were administered.
