‖ Gesnera Bot.|ˈdʒɛsnərə| Also gesneria (the spelling preferred by Linnæus and now the accepted form). [mod.L., named after Conrad von Gesner, a naturalist and scholar of Zürich, of the 16th c.] A genus of tropical plants (family Gesneraceæ); also a plant of this genus.
