geonoma Bot.|dʒiːˈɒnəmə| [mod.L. (C. L. Willdenow 1804, in Mémoires de l'Académie Royale des Sciences de Berlin 37), f. Gr. γεωνόµος a colonist, in allusion to its rapid propagation.] A tree of the genus of small palms so named, natives of South and Central America.
