genistein Chem.|dʒɪˈnɪsteɪɪn, -stiːn| [f. genista + -ein.] An isoflavone derivative, C15H10O5, that is present in dyer's broom, Genista tinctoria, and some other plants and is a weak yellow colouring matter. Also called prunetol.
