microphyte|ˈmaɪkrəʊfaɪt| [mod.f. Gr. µῑκρό-ς small + ϕυτόν plant. Cf. F. microphyte.] A microscopic plant, esp. a bacterium. Hence microˈphytal, microˈphytic adjs., pertaining to microphytes.
