Gadarene, a.|ˈgædəriːn| Also † Gadarean. [ad. late L. Gadarenus, f. Gr. Γαδαρηνός inhabitant of Gadara, a town of ancient Palestine near the Sea of Galilee.] Of or pertaining to Gadara; used allusively, esp. of a headlong rush or flight, with reference to the story in Matt. viii. 28 of the swine that rushed down a steep cliff into the sea and drowned.
