Recollect, n.|ˈrɛkəlɛkt|
[ad. L. recollect-us or F. récollet recollet, q.v.]
A member of an Observantine branch of the Franciscan order, which originated in Spain in the end of the 15th c., and was so named ‘from the detachment from creatures and recollection in God which the founders aimed at’ (Catholic Dict.).
