‖ trismus Path.|ˈtrɪzməs| [mod.L., ad. Gr. τρισµός = τριγµός a scream, also a grinding, rasping.] Tetanus or tonic spasm of the muscles of the neck and lower jaw, causing the jaw to close rigidly; lock-jaw. (Rarely extended to tetanus in general.)
