filature|ˈfɪlətjʊə(r)| [a. F. filature (as if ad. L. *fīlātūra; cf. It. filatura), f. late L. fīlāre to spin, f. fīlum thread.] 1. The action of forming or spinning into threads; the reeling of silk from cocoons.
