A yard or enclosed space for tilts and tournaments; a (permanent) tilting-ground.
Tilt Yard guard, the name of the guard mounted on the site of the tilt-yard of the old Royal Palace of Whitehall. Also called later tilt guard (see tilt n.2 10). Discontinued 15th Nov. 1898.
