Exocet Mil.|ˈɛksəsɛt| [a. F. exocet flying fish, ad. L. exōcœt-us, ad. Gr. ἐξώκοιτος sleeping out, a fish that comes up on to the beach, f. ἔξω (see exo-) + κοῖτος bed.] A proprietary name for a kind of rocket-propelled short-range guided missile used esp. in tactical sea warfare. Freq. attrib. in Exocet missile.
