tetanine Chem.|ˈtɛtənaɪn| [f. tetanus + -ine5.] †a. An old name for strychnine. b. A ptomaine, C13H30N2O4, obtained from meat extract containing Rosenbach's microbe, the tetanus bacillus; occurring also in decaying corpses.
