† eˈstable, v. Obs. Also 6 astable, -bill, estabill. [ad. F. establ-ir (mod.F. établir) = Pr. establir, stablir, It. stabilire:—L. stabilīre, f. stabilis stable a. See also stable v.] trans. = establish in various senses. To make stable; to settle, fix permanently; to secure, confirm; to decree; to make steady, support, calm (the mind).
