‖ eremacausis Chem.|ˌɛrɪməˈkɔːsɪs| [mod.L., f. Gr. ἠρέµα quietly + καῦσις burning, f. καίειν to burn; cf. Fr. érémacause.] ‘A slow combustion taking place in presence of air and water, and accompanied by a kind of fermentation’ (Watts).
