tarentaal S. Afr.|tærənˈtɑːl| Also tarantal(l). [a. Afrikaans.] Either of two guineafowl of the family Numididæ, the crowned guineafowl, Numida meleagris, or the crested guineafowl, Guttera edouardi, both found in southern Africa.
