A radical contained in adenine. Hence adeˈnylic a., esp. adenylic acid, a nucleotide found in red blood corpuscles, muscle, etc., consisting of adenine, ribose, and phosphoric acid.

LXVI. i. 156 The nuclëic acid prepared from the thyroid gland of calves yields adenine on boiling with water, and is therefore termed adenylic acid. 1936Ann.
