elaioplast Cytology.|ɪˈlaɪəplæst| Also elæo-. [a. Du. elaioplast (J. H. Wakker 1887, in Maandblad voor Natuurwetenschappen XIII. 110), f. Gr. ἔλαιον oil + -plast.] A type of plastid, found esp. in some angiosperms, that contains or secretes oil.
