† diˈvell, v. Obs. [ad. L. dīvell-ĕre to tear or rend asunder, f. dī-, dis-, dis- 1 + vellĕre to tear. Cf. divulse.] trans. To tear, rend, or pull asunder. Hence diˈvelling ppl. a., divellent.
